Licence Process

Our 9 Steps

• Step One; Book your course online or with an advisor.
• Step Two; We'll send you our Training Pack with all important material needed.
• Step Three; You are required to undergo a 5 minute medical test.
• Step Four; After your medical, send away your forms provided to get your provisional licence.
• Step Five; remember to keep revising from the material provided in Step Two.
• Step Six; Theory Test will consist of two parts, and every question is covered on our training pack.
• Step Seven; Once your theory test has been passed, a training date will need to be arranged.
• Step Eight; This will be your Practical Test. You can attend a Two Day RHA Fast Track Course.
• Step Nine; Your course is complete for you to go out and get on the road to your new career!

Vehicles

Category C Licence

There are many different types of vehicles predominantly used within the transportation and haulage industry.

A Category C Licence allows you to drive a Rigid Body, Class 1 or Light Goods Vehicle. These vehicles are predominantly used to deliveries and typically over 3,500kg in weight.

Included in the Category C & E Licence you are eligible to drive vehicles weighing between 3,500kg and 7,500kg – an optional trailer is allowed but is not permitted to weight more than 750kg.

HGV Licence Training is required for this type of vehicle, which after undertaking one of our courses would enable you onto a new career path.

Category C & E Licence

If you are interested in a career in trucking, then you need to obtain a Category C & E Licence. This covers Articulated Lorries and is only achievable if you have already for a Category C Licence, which would enable you to drive most vehicles within the haulage industry.

A Category 'C & E' Licence allows you to then drive an Articulate lorry. This lorry has a different area for the driver and would also include a trailer. Compared to smaller trucks, this vehicle is much more difficult to drive.

As you will have had your Category C Licence, you are permitted to drive a vehicle between 3,500kg and 7,500kg. The weight of the trailer is allowed to exceed 750kg but is capped at an overall haulage weight of 12,000kg. Finally, the trailer's weight cannot be more than the vehicles unladen weight.

Horse Boxes

Horsebox Training is a far more simple process than formerly believed. Here at HGV Training we follow the same procedure as the training we offer for the Category C and Category C & E courses.
